The Only One: 1985 Toyota Corolla FX-GT (AE82)

October 04, 2017

I've been going to more than a dozen car shows each year here in Japan, and take car-spotting rather seriously, too. I've easily seen a hundred AE86s, but this is the first, and only, front-wheel-drive E80 Toyota Corolla I have ever seen in Japan.

The E80 Series Corolla was built from 1983 to 1987. This Corolla hatchback was built in 1985. It has a 1,587cc inline 4 engine.

Related: Toyota Sprinter.

How does winning stuff sound?

I've set myself an ambitious target, and that is to unearth all of Japan's rusting, nostalgic gems. It's not going to be easy. They're shy creatures and prefer to remain hidden. And, limited time and funds mean they're likely to stay that way, which would be not cool! <More>
