Garage Visit: Four RA40 Toyota Celicas, and an MA45 Celica XX

August 30, 2017

I would tell you that both the 2nd generation Toyota Celica, and the 1st generation Supra/Celica XX, are a rare sight in Japan, but I would be repeating myself. I feel certain that after just two garage visits (admittedly, they were both (hardcore) RA40 enthusiasts) that I've seen more of them in the last 12 months in Australia than I ever will in the the land of their origin.

The A40 Series Celica was built from Aug 1977 to Jun 1981. This Celica was built in 1978. It has a 1,972cc inline 4 engine.

How does winning stuff sound?

I've set myself an ambitious target, and that is to unearth all of Japan's rusting, nostalgic gems. It's not going to be easy. They're shy creatures and prefer to remain hidden. And, limited time and funds mean they're likely to stay that way, which would be not cool! <More>
