JDM Auction, I Actually Bid!! 1990 Toyota Sprinter (CE96V)

June 26, 2021

First let me stress that this is not how to on getting a JDM classic from a Japanese car auction; it's my personal experience from seeing the car for the first time, to bidding on it, then through to the drop of the hammer. As for the car, it's a diesel-powered Toyota Sprinter van (it's classed as a commercial vehicle), and it's giving me one-owner vibes.

The E90 Series Sprinter was built from May 1987 to May 1991. This Sprinter van was built in 1990. It has a 1,839cc inline 4 engine.

How does winning stuff sound?

I've set myself an ambitious target, and that is to unearth all of Japan's rusting, nostalgic gems. It's not going to be easy. They're shy creatures and prefer to remain hidden. And, limited time and funds mean they're likely to stay that way, which would be not cool! <More>
